Our 10-year anniversary trip is coming up SO SOON, and I am beyond excited!! We are heading out on a small yacht, to the British Virgin Islands – without the twins. Aghhh 🙂 More deets to come on the trip. For now, I thought this would be a great time to share with you guys some tips for shopping for swimsuits during the winter months.
Finding a Swimsuit in The Winter
We typically travel during the winter. So, I have been down this road many times. Where it’s the dead of winter and I need a cute suit for a trip, ugh. During the spring/summer, it’s much easier if you need a suit for something. You can find plenty of options right in the stores. You can try on a whole bunch which is what we are used to, so it feels comfortable. But once you nail down the brands and styles that you like and you know your size, you can get them online and save yourself the hassle of dealing with the stores and bad dressing room lighting. If I am branching out and trying a new brand – l always start with just doing a Google search for the style I am looking for… i.e. high waisted, bandeau top, or high-cut leg… You get the point, whatever style is your jam just Google it. Once I have found some I like, I will try and pick stores online that I know have an easy/great return policy. Like, Nordstrom (sooo good, I swear I have returned things I forgot I had for no joke like a year and they took it back no problem.) Revolve is also awesome! Tip: I just order multiple sizes at the same time so that way I can figure out what fit I like and then I just return the rest. It’s so much nicer to be in the comfort of your home so you can think about it for a bit. When I am shopping in the store I always feel rushed into my decisions, and I second guess them.
Benefits of Shopping Online for Swimsuits
There is such a feeling of luxury that comes from being in the comfort of your own home doing the dreaded swimsuit try on. Another bonus of shopping online is that when I find a suit I love, I can also compare pricing with brands that I know are carried at multiple online shops. I can sometimes find a better price at Nordstrom versus Shopbop or Revolve, and one may not have my size but the other does. So, let’s say… I find a suit on ShopBop that I LOVE. But they don’t have my size for the top. So, I’ll google the brand and name of suit listed on the website and I might discover that at Nordstrom not only do they have my size in both pieces but it’s also cheaper. WIN! Once you have found a suit you love, it doesn’t hurt to shop around for the best deal – especially in the off-season!
I know that trying on swimwear in the winter can be a little… emotionally taxing. I always try to use it to motivate myself early for that summer body we all start getting an itch for as winter is ending. Plus, don’t forget…. you probably aren’t as tan as you were last time you put on a two-piece (or one) – go get a spray tan. You’ll feel like a million bucks.
Favorite Swimsuit Brands
Okay, now that we covered the tips on finding and shopping the suits let’s talk about some of my favorite brands. It’s no secret that I am bathing suit obsessed, I may have more bathing suits than regular clothing oops! And my style has changed ALOT since having the girls. With that being said I am pretty picky when it comes to the perfect suit, so hopefully you guys will give some of my faves a try! I don’t think you will regret it;) Even if we don’t share the same taste in style, I can guarantee the quality is impeccable, and you will likely find a style within these brands that you love, and you too will be hooked.
shopweworewhat– Okay. I am obsessed with every suit I have from this brand started by Danielle Bernstein. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I just shared some new pieces that I got from her Parisian summer line that just dropped. Oh. My. Goodness. OBSESSED. There are so many styles of bathing suits, their quality is amazing and the prints are gorgeous! I mean I could go on, but I won’t – just trust me – treat yourself and get one!
RETURN POLICY: Full returns on all full-price merchandise that is unworn and unwashed with tags still attached – for U.S. customers within 14 days of the delivery date. There is a restocking fee of $10 that will be deducted from your refund.
Inamorata– Inamorata is designed by Emily Ratajkowski, who I LOVE. Some might say that these suits are more on the sexy side. Ok… Realistically, everyone would say that. But, what is nice is that yes, they are super sexy – but they are done in such a high-quality way that the result is super classy. I have this polka dot print one piece, and the fit is incredible. There are so many great options for any body type/shape.
RETURN POLICY: Items may be returned within 21 days of purchase in the original condition they were sent in (tags and liners attached) for a full refund. A $5.00 restocking fee will be applied to domestic returns. Please include your original invoice with your return
Norma Kamali- I remember purchasing my first bathing suit from her line after having the girls. I will be honest, the price point was tough to swallow. It was my first one-piece after the girls were born and I wasn’t exactly feeling confident buying swimwear. But, I was like “Um I just birthed two humans… I deserve it!” Haha Now, nearly five years later I still have that suit and it’s still very active in my rotation. Needless to say – It was worth every penny and I do not regret that purchase. I never felt better rocking any one-piece after having twins.
RETURN POLICY: You have 30 days to return unused merchandise with the tags and liners still attached. The only cost to return is the price of shipping.
I will leave you with one more site that is awesome once you figure out your sizing. Asos– The returns are a pain, but once you get your sizing right it’s smooth sailing. I have so many cute suits from them and the price points are usually so good. It’s also nice because they have so much you can get some unique suits, which I love. It’s a great place to shop for bathing suits if you are up for the adventure of searching and being patient, but you can find some serious gems.
I hope this was helpful and will save you a little time shopping for that perfect suit you need for a vacation in the winter months.
